Lake George 2002
Tuesday, September 10, 2002
Mary Ellen and I took the boys out berry picking today - one of our favorite
Lake George traditions. While we were gone, Mark hiked to a graphite mine not
far from here. He tried all day to get us to join him to see it, but it
was just too darned hot.
John, Mike and Jay have been golfing almost non-stop the entire week, and John
went from the course to the airport today to head back home.
Most of the family spent the day on the beach staying cool. Mary Ellen and Alex
got to spend some nice one-on-one time together, and then Alex and Mark kayaked
across the lake to Dark Bay to see Pat and Jim.
Mary Ellen gave the boys light sticks after it got dark. Uncle Jay created a new
game in the front yard. Alex closed his eyes while Jay threw the light stick
from the porch, and then Alex would try to find it. It was frighteningly similar
to fetch! It worked out great, though. Patch and Preston joined in and Jay wore
them out quite nicely before bed!
We flipped on the TV this afternoon and were hit with special news reports about
anticipated Al Caida attacks tomorrow. While this wasn't all that unexpected, it
was still quite sobering. We're all saying prayers that tomorrow is an
uneventful day.
We're supposed to be getting a cold front tonight and tomorrow, so we'll finally
get some relief from this heat.
